The Permians to join “The Earth Hour” world action
On March 26 at 20:30 Perm will traditionally start “The Earth Hour” - the international ecology action. The lights on the city administration building will be switched off for an hour; those willing to join in can switch off the lights and electric appliances at their homes for 1 hour.
It has become a tradition during “the Earth Hour” to turn off the lights on most famous buildings worldwide. Perm City administration has repeatedly taken part in the action by switching off for an hour the lights on its buildings at Lenina 23 and Sibirskaya 27; the residents are invited to join in by turning off the lights and electric appliances in their homes.
The action, being a voluntary one, is far from just economizing on electricity. “The Earth Hour” has become a symbol of a caring attitude towards nature, educating people about nature resources exhaustion. From year to year the event promotes the necessity of taking responsibility for the state of environment. It has become the most massive action attracting over 2 billion people all over the world.
Russia has taken part in the action since 2009.
